Study on Optical Frequency Conversion and Measurement Techniques Based on photonic crystals
ABSTRACT
Photonic crystals, which is a new type of optical material emerged in recent years, is the artificial structures made by periodic arrangement of the medium of high and low refractive index, the existence of photonic band gap as the its main character, is able to inhibit spontaneous emission and control of optical transmission and so on. The topics of optical frequency conversion based on photonic crystals and its measurement techniques was studied in this paper, supported by the?±GuiZhou Provincial Department of Education Fund?±.
The basic principle of optical frequency conversion based on the interaction of shock wave and photonic crystals was expounded, based on the analysis of characteristics of photonic crystals band gap. The influence factors of variation was detailed analyzed by the shock wave speed, the length of time of interaction and the width of band gap; produced the blue and yellow light, the change of refractive index of compressed photonic crystals was simulated. At wavelength of 470nm and 580nm, parameter of photonic crystals was selected coherently, the variation of band gap was studied, and velocity of shock wave was calculated, and the transformation of red light from 630nm to 600nm was achieved based on the interaction of shock wave and photonic crystals contained defects, and the influence factors of the center wavelength and line width of output light wave were intensively analyzed; the test systems of measurement of optical frequency conversion were designed based on virtual beat principles and acousto-optic modulator with optical mixing technology.
Finally, the advanced research and the current problems of optical frequency conversion and measurement techniques were discussed based on photonic crystals. The technology has an important reference value in the access to a variety of coherent light source, the theoretical research of the measurement of frequency conversion and the establishment of test systems has great significance.
