作者認(rèn)為成熟的亞洲社會(huì)心理學(xué)的標(biāo)志，不是它獲得的有關(guān)亞洲人的知識(shí)本身，而是它用來創(chuàng)造關(guān)于社會(huì)行為的一般性知識(shí)的特殊方法。方法論的關(guān)系論是亞洲社會(huì)心理學(xué)對(duì)主流心理學(xué)的一個(gè)重要貢獻(xiàn)，可以作為分析人類思想和行為的普遍性的概念框架。文章詳細(xì)地闡述了作為方法論的關(guān)系論的基本觀點(diǎn)。通過對(duì)儒家文化中的關(guān)系支配性、西方社會(huì)科學(xué)研究范式的轉(zhuǎn)變等問題的討論，作者分別說明了方法論的關(guān)系論在中西文化中的適用性。作者指出，在應(yīng)用方法論的關(guān)系論時(shí)，也要注意關(guān)系本身的文化差異。
