The Comparison of Euphemism Terms
in Chinese and English
Abstract: There are euphemisms in Chinese as well as in English. There are similarities, such as in the terms of formation, and the communicative functions. However, they also have dissimilarities. Since euphemisms are rooted in different religion, convention, and value concepts; they are expressed in different ways. By analyzing the similarities and differences in Chinese and English euphemism terms，I hope people can reach an ideal communicative effect in social communication. Because euphemisms can help people form a positive communicative atmosphere to establish harmonious social relationships and eventually to achieve the communication goals.
