　　　查爾斯•狄更斯是英國(guó)批判現(xiàn)實(shí)主義最紷@齙拇?，一生辛窃煷做崿写了?#65533;20部中長(zhǎng)篇小說(shuō)。狄更斯的作品具有對(duì)現(xiàn)實(shí)批判的強(qiáng)烈社會(huì)意義，他對(duì)資產(chǎn)階級(jí)的貪婪、虛偽及其統(tǒng)治機(jī)構(gòu)的腐敗作了無(wú)情的揭露和譴責(zé)，對(duì)被壓迫、被侮辱、被損害的下層人民寄以深切的同情?！鹅F都孤兒》是狄更斯的第一部重要的社會(huì)問(wèn)題小說(shuō)。這部作品以?shī)W列佛的種種不幸遭遇為主線，揭露了資本主義社會(huì)中兒童在精神和肉體上所受的嚴(yán)重摧殘。本文主要通過(guò)對(duì)維多利亞時(shí)期英國(guó)社會(huì)狀況的介紹和文本的分析，探討這部作品的社會(huì)意義,揭示了作者對(duì)社會(huì)的黑暗、腐敗和資產(chǎn)階級(jí)虛偽品性的猛烈攻擊和對(duì)勞苦大眾的深切同情。

　Abstract
　
　　　Charles Dickens, the best representative of English critical realism, works hard all through his life, creating almost 20 novels, long or medium-sized. His works are accompanied with strong criticism towards the reality,that is the relentless explosure and denunciation of the greed and hypocrisy of the bourgeoisie and the curruption of the institution as well as profound sympathy for the oppressed, insulted and hurt of the lower class. Oliver Twist, Dickens’ first novel reflecting social problems, takes the various sufferings of Oliver Twist as the major thread and uncovers the serious mental and physical devastation on the children in the capitalist society..This paper, based on the introduction of the background of the Victorian England and the analysis of the text, discusses the social significance of this novel and shows the author’s strong attack on the injustice and corruption of the social system and the hypocrisy of the bourgeoisie and also the profound compassion on the working people.
