電力系統(tǒng)的飛速發(fā)展對繼電保護(hù)不斷提出新的要求，電子技術(shù)、計算機技術(shù)與通信技術(shù)的飛速發(fā)展又為繼電保護(hù)技術(shù)的發(fā)展不斷地注入了新的活力，因此，繼電保護(hù)技術(shù)得天獨厚，在40余年的時間里完成了發(fā)展的4個歷史階段。
　　建國后，我國繼電保護(hù)學(xué)科、繼電保護(hù)設(shè)計、繼電器制造工業(yè)和繼電保護(hù)技術(shù)隊伍從無到有，在大約10年的時間里走過了先進(jìn)國家半個世紀(jì)走過的道路。50年代，我國工程技術(shù)人員創(chuàng)造性地吸收、消化、掌握了國外先進(jìn)的繼電保護(hù)設(shè)備性能和運行技術(shù)，建成了一支具有深厚繼電保護(hù)理論造詣和豐富運行經(jīng)驗的繼電保護(hù)技術(shù)隊伍，對全國繼電保護(hù)技術(shù)隊伍的建立和成長起了指導(dǎo)作用。阿城繼電器廠引進(jìn)消化了當(dāng)時國外先進(jìn)的繼電器制造技術(shù)，建立了我國自己的繼電器制造業(yè)。因而在60年代中我國已建成了繼電保護(hù)研究、設(shè)計、制造、運行和教學(xué)的完整體系。這是機電式繼電保護(hù)繁榮的時代，為我國繼電保護(hù)技術(shù)的發(fā)展奠定了堅實基礎(chǔ)。
